Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, and the events closest to Artondale have moved to the evening before. On Friday, October 30, Uptown Gig Harbor and PenMet Parks run trick-or-treating, a giant pumpkin carving and the Monster Mash Bash, all within a few hours on the Point Fosdick side. On Saturday, October 31, the action moves downhill to the downtown waterfront, then shifts to an adults-only party back on Point Fosdick Drive.
One date matters before either night. The pumpkin patch closest to Artondale closes on October 25, six days before Halloween. That makes October a month that starts early and has to be planned from the end backward.
October opens on a single Saturday at Sehmel
The season starts on Saturday, October 3. PenMet Parks' Scarecrow Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sehmel Homestead Park, 10123 78th Ave NW. It's free and includes local vendors, kids' activities, inflatables, a pumpkin launcher, a petting zoo, live music, food trucks and the Scarecrow Contest. The contest application is officially closed, but PenMet says anyone still interested can email [email protected] and it may be able to add them.
The same Saturday is opening day at Harbor Farms Pumpkin Patch. The farm now operates at 7725 92nd St. NW in the Rosedale area, a move from its earlier site at 7777 Rosedale St. NW. For 2026, the patch is open October 3 through 25, and admission is by timed reservation only. Weekend slots start at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The News Tribune's October 1 fall roundup lists tickets at $10 with two hours of farm access. Tractor rides and apple slingshots cost extra, and the farm also has a petting farm, a kids' play area and outdoor games. The farm doesn't sell food. It has picnic tables, and families are invited to bring their own lunch or dinner.
The closing date shapes the rest of the month. A pumpkin from Harbor Farms has to be bought by Sunday, October 25. If carving night is Friday the 30th, that pumpkin will sit on the porch for most of a week first.
The last weekend of the patch is the busiest of the month
The weekend of October 23 to 25 holds the most events close to home, partly because it's the patch's final weekend and partly because other organizers have scheduled around it. Here it is in order:
- Friday, Oct. 23, 4 to 7 p.m. Harbor Farms opens for pumpkin sales only, with no reservation needed. It's the second of two Fridays set aside for this, after October 16.
- Friday, Oct. 23, 5:30 to 7 p.m. PenMet's inclusive Costume and Decorating Party for ages 13 and up takes place at Sehmel Homestead Park, run through the district's specialized recreation program.
- Saturday, Oct. 24, noon to 4 p.m. Key Pen Parks holds its free All Hallows Eve at Gateway Park, 10405 WA 302, with face painting, games, candy and crafts.
- Saturday, Oct. 24, 2 to 5 p.m. The Witches Brew paddle, run by GHP FISH, launches from the Gig Harbor Boat Launch at 8723 Randall Drive and heads toward the lighthouse.
- Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25. Harbor Farms runs its last timed sessions at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The two Friday-evening events overlap for 90 minutes and are close enough to pair. The pumpkin-only window gets a family a pumpkin without booking a slot. The Sehmel party is for teens and adults, so one evening can cover both.
Friday, October 30, on the Point Fosdick side
The Friday events are packed into one afternoon and evening, with each start time handing off to the next.
| Time | Event | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Giant Pumpkin Carving with Russ Leno | Uptown Gig Harbor Pavilion, 4701 Point Fosdick Dr. | Free |
| 4 to 6 p.m. | Trick or Treat at Uptown | Participating businesses throughout Uptown | Free |
| 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Monster Mash Bash | PenMet Parks Recreation Center, 2524 14th Ave NW | Free, all ages |
Visit Gig Harbor describes Russ Leno as one of the world's top giant pumpkin sculptors. His carving starts at 11 a.m., and he shares carving tips while he works. Because the carving runs six hours, anyone arriving for the 4 p.m. trick-or-treat start will catch the last hour, when the sculpture is closest to finished.
Uptown's trick-or-treat sends families to participating businesses across the center, and costumes are encouraged for adults as well as kids. Uptown wraps up at 6 p.m., half an hour after PenMet's Monster Mash Bash starts at the Recreation Center. PenMet lists trick-or-treating, vendors, games and Halloween-themed activities, and the event is free for all ages.
Two businesses that are new this year sit along the Friday route. Gig Harbor Now reported in late March that Ivar's Seafood Bar would open April 3 at 4901 Point Fosdick Dr. Couple of Scoops opened May 31 at 5500 Olympic Dr. NW, Suite H-103, and held its grand opening on June 6. Neither has posted Halloween hours, so it's worth checking before building a dinner stop around either one.
Saturday, October 31, moves down to the waterfront
On Halloween itself, the main family event is in the historic downtown. The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance hosts trick-or-treating at waterfront businesses from 3 to 6 p.m. Harborview Drive will be closed from Pioneer Way to Rosedale. The Alliance's own invitation:
Bring your little monsters, superheroes, and Jedi Knights to trick or treat at businesses along the downtown waterfront.
The road closure changes how to get there. On most Saturdays, Harborview is the way through downtown. From 3 to 6 p.m. on the 31st, the stretch between Pioneer Way and Rosedale belongs to trick-or-treaters, so plan to drive around it rather than through it.
As the waterfront winds down, Harbor Life Church's Trunk or Treat begins at 4417 56th St. NW. It runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes laser tag and a cake walk. Together, the two events cover Saturday from mid-afternoon to 7 p.m., the same span Friday's events cover on the Point Fosdick side.
Saturday night is for adults
The last event of the weekend is back on Point Fosdick Drive. Ocean5, at 5268 Point Fosdick Drive NW, hosts a 21+ Halloween Bash from 7 to 10 p.m. on October 31. The party fills Ocean5's second-floor event space. The band Sounds Like Dolores plays a mix that runs from Journey and Def Leppard to Shania Twain and Led Zeppelin, and there's a full bar. The band has been playing around Puget Sound since 2014 and was voted Best of the South Sound in South Sound Magazine's 2025 readers' poll.
The costume contest pays $250 cash for first place, a $100 gift card for second and a $50 gift card for third. Food can be ordered at the party by QR code, or guests can reserve dinner at Table 47 beforehand. The 7 p.m. start lines up with the end of the Trunk or Treat, so a household can finish the kids' evening and then hand the night over to the adults.
Details to confirm before the weekends arrive
- Harbor Farms reservations. Weekend admission is by timed ticket only. The pumpkin-only Fridays on October 16 and 23 are the exception.
- Extra fees at the farm. Tractor rides and apple slingshots cost more than the $10 ticket.
- Picnic supplies. Harbor Farms doesn't sell food on site.
- Harborview access on the 31st. The closure from Pioneer Way to Rosedale runs during the 3 to 6 p.m. trick-or-treat.
- Ocean5's age limit. The Halloween Bash is 21+ only.
